2027 MA-OEP Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period in Tampa Bay. Still have a question? Call or text Daniel at 813-539-0071.

What is the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (MA-OEP)?
The MA-OEP is a yearly enrollment window from January 1 to March 31 that only applies to people already enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan. During MA-OEP 2027 you can make one change: switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan, or drop your Medicare Advantage plan and return to Original Medicare with a stand-alone Part D drug plan.
When exactly is MA-OEP for 2027?
The 2027 Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period runs from January 1, 2027 through March 31, 2027. Any plan change you make takes effect the first day of the following month.
Who can use the MA-OEP? Can anyone on Medicare use it?
Only people who are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan on January 1, 2027 can use MA-OEP. If you have Original Medicare, a Medigap plan and a stand-alone Part D plan, MA-OEP does not apply to you — your windows are the Annual Enrollment Period (October 15 – December 7) or other special enrollment periods.
What's the difference between MA-OEP and the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP)?
AEP (October 15 – December 7, 2026) is open to everyone on Medicare — you can join, switch or drop Medicare Advantage and Part D plans for 2027. MA-OEP (January 1 – March 31, 2027) is a second-chance window only for people already in a Medicare Advantage plan, and it allows just one plan change.
Can I switch Medicare Advantage plans more than once during MA-OEP?
No. You get one plan change during the MA-OEP window, so it's worth reviewing your 2027 doctors, drugs and costs carefully before you decide. That's exactly what Daniel helps you do during an in-home appointment.
How much does it cost to get help from Daniel?
Nothing. If you enroll in a policy and MyPhss is the writing agent, the insurance company pays the commission — your plan price is exactly the same as it would be without us, and there is never any pressure or obligation.
Will Daniel really come to my house?
Yes. Daniel offers in-person appointments in your home throughout Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk, Citrus, Hernando, Manatee and Sumter Counties. Outside those counties, he helps anyone by phone. Most in-home visits take one to two hours.
What should I have ready for my appointment?
Helpful items include your Medicare card and photo ID, your current insurance paperwork (especially your Annual Notice of Change letter), a list of your prescription and over-the-counter medications, and the names of your doctors and specialists. Don't worry if something is missing — Daniel will walk you through it.
How do I know if my Medicare Advantage plan changed for 2027?
Plans mail an Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) in the fall before each plan year. It lists changes to premiums, deductibles, drug formularies and doctor networks. If you didn't read yours — or didn't like what you saw — MA-OEP is your chance to fix it. Daniel will review it with you line by line.
What if I live outside your service area?
Daniel helps people anywhere by phone. In-person home visits are available in Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk, Citrus, Hernando, Manatee and Sumter Counties; everywhere else, the same free, no-pressure help happens over the phone.
